Ethylmagnesium bromide is a highly reactive organomagnesium halide supplied as a 3 mol/L solution in diethyl ether. It is widely used in organic synthesis for the formation of carbon–carbon bonds, especially in nucleophilic addition reactions to carbonyl compounds, producing alcohols after hydrolysis. This Grignard reagent is moisture-sensitive and pyrophoric.
