Phenanthrene is an aromatic hydrocarbon made up of three fused benzene rings. It is found naturally in coal tar and is also a member of the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) group. Phenanthrene is primarily used in chemical processes and as an intermediate in the synthesis of various organic compounds.

First Aid Measures
Inhalation: Immediately move the person to fresh air. Seek medical attention if symptoms persist or if exposure was severe. If breathing stops, administer artificial respiration and, if necessary, provide oxygen.
Skin Contact: Immediately remove contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water or shower. Seek immediate medical attention.
Eye Contact: Rinse eyes immediately with plenty of water. Seek immediate medical attention. Remove contact lenses if present and easy to do.
Ingestion: Give the affected person water to drink (at least two glasses). Seek immediate medical attention. If help does not arrive within one hour, induce vomiting (only for conscious individuals) and administer activated charcoal (20-40 g in a 10% suspension). Consult a doctor as soon as possible. Do not attempt neutralization.
