Boiling Point: approximately 154°C
Flash Point: approximately 46°C, closed cup
Refractive Index: n20/D approximately 1.413
Solubility in Water: miscible or partially miscible depending on conditions
Solubility in Other Solvents: miscible with many organic solvents, including alcohols and ketones
Type of Compound: ester, hydroxy ester, lactic acid derivative
Applications:
Chemical Industry:
Used as a solvent in coatings, inks, cleaning agents and technical formulations.
Organic Synthesis:
Applied as a reaction medium or solvent in selected organic synthesis procedures.
Polymer Processing:
Used in polymer-related processes where a polar, biodegradable solvent is required.
Industrial Cleaning:
Applied in cleaning formulations and degreasing systems where lower-toxicity solvent alternatives are desired.
Key Properties:
Ester Structure: contains an ester group and a hydroxyl group, influencing polarity and solvent behavior.
Biodegradable Solvent: valued as an alternative to many traditional organic solvents.
Moderate Boiling Point: useful in formulations requiring controlled evaporation.
Good Solvent Properties: suitable for dissolving a range of organic materials.
Storage:
Store in a tightly closed container in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place.
Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources.
Protect from moisture, contamination and direct sunlight.
Keep away from strong oxidizing agents, strong acids, strong bases and incompatible materials.
Handling:
Avoid breathing vapors, mist or aerosol.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Use only in a well-ventilated area.
Ground and bond container and receiving equipment when handling larger quantities.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment, including protective gloves, protective clothing, eye protection and face protection.
