It is the sodium salt of sulfuric acid and contains both a sulfate and a hydrogen ion in its structure. Sodium hydrogen sulfate is commonly used in cleaning products, water treatment, and as a pH regulator in various industrial applications.
This compound is primarily used in cleaning products, especially those designed for descaling or removing mineral deposits, such as in toilets and boilers. It is also used in swimming pool maintenance to lower the pH level of pool water, and in the textile industry as a dyeing agent. Additionally, sodium hydrogen sulfate can be used in the production of other chemicals, including sodium sulfate.
Sodium hydrogen sulfate is a strongly acidic and can cause irritation to the skin, eyes, and respiratory system upon contact.
