Description:
Sodium metal is a highly reactive, soft, silvery-white metal that is part of the alkali metals group. It is known for its vigorous reaction with water, forming sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and hydrogen gas, which can be explosive in certain conditions. Sodium metal is used in the production of organic compounds, as a reducing agent in chemical synthesis, and in the manufacturing of glass and other materials. It is stored under oil to prevent it from reacting with moisture in the air.
