Description
Iron Sulfate PIX-113 Coagulant
Other names: PIX-113, ferric sulfate solution, iron(III) sulfate solution, iron coagulant, ferric coagulant, aqueous iron sulfate solution
CAS Number: 10028-22-5
EC Number: 233-072-9
Chemical Formula: Fe2(SO4)3
Appearance: dark brown aqueous solution
PIX-113 is an iron-based inorganic coagulant used in water treatment and wastewater treatment processes. It is based on ferric sulfate in aqueous solution and is designed for technical and industrial applications where efficient coagulation, phosphorus precipitation and removal of suspended solids are required.
The product supports the removal of suspended matter, turbidity, color and selected organic compounds from water and wastewater. In treatment systems, ferric ions promote destabilization of colloidal particles and formation of flocs, which can then be removed by sedimentation, flotation or filtration.
Chemical and Physical Properties:
Form: aqueous solution
Color: dark brown
Odor: no characteristic odor
Main component: iron(III) sulfate
Total iron content: typically around 11.8 ± 0.4%
Iron(II) content: typically below 0.3%
Density at 20°C: approximately 1.52 ± 0.06 g/cm3
Viscosity at 20°C: approximately 30 ± 10 mPa·s
pH at 20°C: below 1
Crystallization temperature: approximately -20°C
Type of compound: inorganic iron salt, acidic aqueous coagulant solution
Applications:
Water Treatment:
Used as a coagulant for the removal of suspended solids, turbidity and color from water.
Wastewater Treatment:
Applied in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants to support clarification and contaminant removal.
Phosphorus Removal:
Used for chemical precipitation of phosphorus compounds in wastewater treatment systems.
Hydrogen Sulfide Control:
May be applied in wastewater systems to reduce hydrogen sulfide-related problems.
Sludge Treatment:
Supports sludge thickening and improves separation of suspended solids during treatment processes.
Industrial Process Water:
Used in industrial water-treatment systems where iron-based coagulation is required.
Key Properties:
Iron-Based Coagulation: ferric ions support destabilization and aggregation of suspended particles.
Phosphorus Precipitation: effective in chemical removal of phosphates from wastewater.
Acidic Solution: strongly acidic aqueous product, requiring corrosion-resistant handling equipment.
Liquid Form: convenient for dosing with suitable chemical-resistant dosing systems.
Storage:
Store in tightly closed, corrosion-resistant containers suitable for acidic iron salt solutions.
Keep in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area.
Protect from contamination, freezing and excessive heat.
Keep away from strong bases, reactive metals and incompatible materials.
Handling:
Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.
Avoid inhalation of mist or aerosol.
Use in a well-ventilated area.
Use corrosion-resistant equipment and dosing systems.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment, including protective gloves, protective clothing, eye protection and face protection.
Do not mix with incompatible chemicals unless the process has been professionally assessed.
This product is intended strictly for technical, laboratory, industrial and water-treatment use. It is not intended for consumption, medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic or feed applications.
