Copper(I) chloride is an inorganic compound of copper in the +1 oxidation state. It is highly sensitive to air, moisture, and light, gradually oxidizing to copper(II) chloride. The substance is usually prepared upon request due to its instability in storage. It is primarily used in organic synthesis, as a catalyst in various chemical reactions, and in coordination chemistry for the formation of copper complexes.
