CAS: 8015-86-9
Molecular formula: not applicable
Molar mass: not applicable
Appearance: hard plant wax, usually in the form of flakes, powder or granules, yellowish to light yellow in colour
Product description
Carnauba wax is a natural plant wax obtained from the leaves of the carnauba palm, Copernicia prunifera, found mainly in Brazil. It is one of the hardest waxes of plant origin, which makes it widely used in technical, cosmetic and care formulations.
The product is characterised by a high melting point, good hardness and the ability to provide surfaces with gloss and resistance. Carnauba wax forms a thin protective layer, which is why it is valued as an ingredient in wax blends, pastes, polishing preparations and products requiring increased durability and an aesthetic finish.
Applications
Carnauba wax may be used as an ingredient in wax blends, candles, polishing pastes, protective preparations, technical cosmetics and care products. It is suitable wherever increased hardness, gloss, temperature resistance and stability of the finished product are required.
It may also be used as an additive in balms, creams, protective lip balms and other formulations, where it acts as a thickening, hardening and protective film-forming ingredient.
