Metol is the hemisulfate salt of 4-(methylamino)phenol. It is a well-known photographic developing agent used for the reduction of silver halides to metallic silver. Beyond photography, it finds use in chemical synthesis, redox studies, and analytical chemistry as a mild reducing agent.
